In light of the current phase of the Coronavirus Pandemic, it has been decided with a heavy heart that all Street Soccer sessions will be postponed until further notice, whilst being reviewed regularly in line with government health recommendations.

The announcement follows on from Today’s Scottish FA’s statement and suspension of all grassroots football activities.

Our decision was made following consultation with the Street Soccer staff and board, that the health, wellbeing and safety of our players, volunteers and staff is paramount.

We realise that our Street Soccer sessions offer more than just a ‘kick about’ so whilst the footballing activity has been postponed for now, access to additional support will remain in place where needed.

Our dedicated staff team will continue to be available for players needing access to support and guidance or even a catch up/conversation. Local staff and coordinators across Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverclyde will also be in regular contact with players during this period and will be available when required.

Street Soccer Scotland, Founder and CEO, David Duke said “The current situation is something that no one has prepared for and it’s the first time in over 10yrs that we have had to postpone a series of sessions. But we have to make sure that our players, staff and the wider community are safe and protected from this current pandemic and situation as far as possible. It would be very risky to allow the sessions to continue under the current situation and especially when we know that, some players may have underlying health issues, placing them at an even higher risk. Over the coming days we will continue to look at ways we can support players during this time, and as a team we will all be available to provide support, should it be required. We are gutted the sessions are off for now, but we know they will be back very soon”

Duke continues, “This is a very difficult time for everyone in Scotland and the rest of world, but its important we remain strong as a community. We must consider our actions in the best interest of others, with kindness. This is also a time when many people are isolated, so please do all you can to check in on others and provide a helping, caring hand when needed”.
